Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10 1949) is an American businesswoman investor, speaker, consultant, syndicated columnist, author, and television personality. She co-founded The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage located in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001. She shortly after, she left the company. Corcoran is one of ABC’s initial Shark Tank investors. As of now, she has been in each season of Shark Tank. In February of 2020 Corcoran had signed 53 deals, the biggest being a $350,000 deal that included 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second child of 10 kids born to an Irish-Catholic couple working in the middle class in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence Corcoran's mother was an errand-taker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He moved between jobs and the next throughout Corcoran's early years. Her family frequently depended on food delivery services for free from a local grocery store. Corcoran is still able to remember her father as someone who was drunk sometimes and did not treat her mother with respect. Corcoran was struggling in school, and discovered later that she was dyslexic. Corcoran attended a Catholic elementary and then started high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. Corcoran was absent from several classes in her first year, and then transferred to Leonia High School where she was a D student.
