Jennifer Rene Psaki
Jennifer Rene Psaki is an American political advisor who worked as the 34th White House press secretary from 2021 until 2022. As a member of the Democratic Party she has previously worked in the Obama administration as White House deputy press secretary (2009), White House assistant director of communications (2009–2011), the spokesperson for the United States Department of State(2013-2015) and White House communication director (2015–2017). Psaki was a contributor to political campaigns to CNN from 2017 until 2020. Psaki began her professional career in 2001 when she worked on the re-election campaigns for Iowa Democrats Tom Harkin for the U.S. Senate and Tom Vilsack for governor. Psaki later served as press secretary in John Kerry's 2004 presidential campaign. Psaki worked from 2005 to 2006 as communications director to Joseph Crowley, U.S. representative, as well as as the regional press secretary to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. Psaki was named press secretary for President Obama's 2012 presidential election campaign. In the year 2000, Psaki became the spokesperson for United States Department of State. Her appointment in the Department of State fueled speculation that she could replace White House Press Secretary Jay Carney as he left for the White House. However on May 30 the 30th of May, 2014 it was announced Josh Earnest would replace Carney. The White House welcomed her back to the White House in 2015 as the communications director, and she was there until the closing of the Obama presidency.
